On 03 June 2026, acting against the menace of illicit liquor, Banarhat Police Station under Jalpaiguri District Police, in coordination with the Excise Department, conducted a series of raids at Shanti More, Dhundashimla Mechpara, Hridaypur, Rheabari Tea Garden, and Karbala Tea Garden areas under Banarhat PS. During the operation, a significant quantity of materials used for illegal liquor manufacturing and distillation was seized and destroyed:

Illicit Distilled Liquor (ID) – 45 litres

 Fermented Wash – 2,350 litres

 Pachwai – 80 kg

 Aluminium Handis – 23 pieces

Distillation Apparatus Sets – 02 sets

 Plastic Drums – 14 pieces

Illegal liquor production and consumption pose serious threats to public health and safety. Such activities can lead to severe health complications, loss of life, and fuel criminal networks.
