A resident of Ward No. 2 under Kotwali Police Station, Jalpaiguri, lost control of his mobile phone after installing an APK file received via WhatsApp from an unknown number. As a result, ₹53,000 was fraudulently withdrawn from his bank account.

After the incident was promptly reported, Cyber Crime Police Station, Jalpaiguri coordinated with the concerned financial institutions and successfully facilitated the recovery of ₹49,000, which was refunded to the victim on 03.07.2026.
